Civil Litigation & Arbitration

We represent individuals and companies in complex civil disputes, both in court and in arbitrations. We work with clients at all stages of civil litigation and arbitration, from pre-suit negotiations, to motions practice, to discovery and trial. We seek to resolve disputes efficiently and look for creative solutions to avoid protracted litigation when possible. But sometimes a trial is necessary, and when it is, we are ready.

Our attorneys have represented clients in numerous federal and state courts, including federal courts in Maryland, the District of Columbia, the Eastern District of Virginia and Massachusetts. We have also represented clients in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association (AAA), Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (JAMS), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Examples of matters we have handled include:

- Obtained a favorable settlement for the developer of a drug who was forced to pursue breach of contract claims in federal court when a specialty pharmaceutical company wrongfully stopped paying him royalties.

- Obtained a large award for an investor who pursued FINRA arbitration after discovering that his broker had engaged in unauthorized trading and other misconduct.

- Represented a company in pursuing claims in federal court against a competitor for engaging in trademark infringement and unfair trade practices in violation of state and federal law.

- Represented the co-founder of a small business in an AAA arbitration regarding the dissolution of her company.

- Assisted technology company with third-party subpoena responses in multiple class action suits.
